Serrations on the rear of the sight base combine with a slightly recessed LitePipe to eliminate the "halo effect" common to many sights and increase the durability of the toughest LitePipes available. This new design is also more holster friendly.

Hiviz front sight for 617
Shipping from Amazon was fine. Had the Hiviz installed by a gunsmith for 30.$. The sight works great in all lighting conditions. I would have gave it a 5 star rating, but it costs about 15.00$ more than my Hiviz sight for my Ruger Gp100. Why? The Hiviz for the 617 needs to be drilled to be installed, and the Ruger Hiviz just drops in. No Gunsmithing charges. Another problem is the 617 Hiviz was still in the package when I dropped it off at gunsmith, and when I picked it up I noticed it had a molding defect in the light tube. So if you purchase this item expect to pay installation fee, and look for manufacturing defects. Function is great.

AMAZON VERIFIED PURCHASE
This optic sight is a great addition to the Smith-Wesson 617 revolver. Looks good installed and makes a positive lock on targets. Gunsmith installation was used, it was quick and not expensive. Wish Smith-Wesson had installed this sight when the pistol was made, like some of their other models. Received this item in just a few days, that's typical of my purchases from Amazon. I liked this so much I purchased a HiVis for my Smith-Wesson 686; also from Amazon.
Very nice sight
Cool color and well worth the money and my shooting accuracy has improved exponentially. A gun smith is definitely needed for installation
